Job Description
The aligned Financial Aid Office of Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College is focused on providing excellent student-centered service while maintaining compliance with federal and state financial aid regulations. The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Aid in administration of financial aid programs, advanced processing, and providing complex information and services to external customers (including all citizens and private/public organizations) in person, electronically, or over the phone. In this position, you will advise students on various application processes, program selection, course registration, eligibility requirements, and participate in enrollment services or financial aid functions. You will participate in orientations, open houses, and represent Financial Aid at outreach events both on and off campus.
This position is in the aligned college’s Financial Aid Office. The aligned colleges have three campus locations: Anoka, Cambridge, and Coon Rapids. The successful candidate’s home campus will be on the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Rapids campus but may be required to work on any of the three campuses, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or one (1) year experience working in Financial Aid, Advising, Admissions, Counseling or another role supporting student success.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret Federal and State financial aid regulations and exercise confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and/or ability to learn academic programming to effectively counsel students.
  • Organizational, file management, and computer skills sufficient to process data, and manage and reconcile programs independently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and provide professional solution-oriented and equitable student services.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work including advocating for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of all facets of the Financial Aid office operations and federal/state aid programs.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimum supervision and make appropriate decisions independently.
  • Willingness and ability to give presentations in orientation sessions, in events on/off campus, and/or open houses to small and large groups of diverse and underrepresented college or high school students and parents.
  • Willingness to take initiative on projects, event coordination, and developing new aid programs.
  • Knowledge and/or use of MinnState’s Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS).
  • Bachelor’s degree.
