GEO Foundation, a leader in developing an “early college” model that supports high school students in earning associate degrees, career certifications and even a bachelor’s degree while in high school has an immediate opening for an Executive Director position to create a new and unique statewide network of “early college” high schools in Indiana. GEO has long enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis and Gary, Indiana. Today, we seek to grow this partnership statewide.

The Executive Director of GEO Early College High Schools Indiana will work closely with the president of GEO to build relationships with Ivy Tech Chancellors and regional leaders to launch new GEO Early College High School campuses throughout the state. The ideal candidate will be experienced in early college high school and dual credit models, understand high school graduation requirements, schedules and be able to coordinate with college courses and schedules to ensure GEO Early College High School Indiana students not only graduate from high school on time, but do so having earned valuable college and/or career experience, credits and credentials while in high school.

In addition to working with Ivy Tech leadership, the Executive Director will work with community leaders in the communities we seek to serve to develop partnerships and community support for our high school model. The Executive Director will work with GEO leadership on budgets, staffing, and communications with state government officials, too. The Executive Director must be a self-starter, entrepreneurial, have strong writing skills, management skills, and understanding of state and federal education policies. From time to time, there may be grant writing, charter application amendments and other presentations required.

  • Identify, develop and strategically build community partnerships to support the goal of advancing post-secondary attainment through career and college pathways while in high school.
  • Develop high and mid-level executive links between the GEO and Ivy Tech’s executive leadership.
  • Plan and coordinate visits with community leaders to facilitate awareness and relationships with the academic programs offered through the partnership between GEO and Ivy Tech.
  • Facilitate new dual credit and/or dual enrollment agreements, maintain current dual credit and/or dual enrollment agreements, manage student admission, prerequisite testing, registration, and academic advising.
  • Support Admissions in outreach activities with Ivy Tech.
  • Communicate, educate and cooperate with Ivy Tech leadership partners (administrators, faculty, guidance counselors, and staff), about our unique model, space needed, dual credit/dual enrollment opportunities, including, but not limited to, the Indiana College Core, workforce certificates and/or other seamless pathways into Ivy Tech Community College and stay abreast of educational and community issues.
  • Provide oversight for the application, course enrollment, and grade reporting process with Ivy Tech.
  • Review and coordinate with Ivy Tech leadership all college policy and procedures related to secondary programs, including adherence to the accreditation standards of NACEP & HLC.
  • Provide leadership for enrollment activities and advising services for high school dual credit and dual enrollment students.
  • Consult with various offices at Ivy Tech to standardize procedures.
  • Consult with Deans and Academic Chairs to ensure dual credit teacher observations, syllabi, and credentials adhere to GEO and Ivy Tech policy.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure high school dual credit teachers receive required annual professional development.
  • Ensure academic progress of dual credit students is monitored on a regular basis.
  • Work to develop dual credit and dual enrollment pathways to completion from certifications to Associate degrees.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications Department to develop promotional and informational pieces for students and parents and manage the distribution of these materials.
  • Oversee database maintenance of faculty and teachers involved in dual credit and dual enrollment courses in order to track and report Secondary Initiative data.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations of Secondary Initiative programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between GEO and Ivy Tech leadership.
  • Become competent working with Ivy Tech data and support systems (DualEnroll.com, IvyLearn, MyIvy, IvyConnect etc.).
