Executive Director Position

The Education Foundation of Indian River County

Vero Beach, Florida

The Education Foundation of Indian River County (EFIRC) operates both as a funding source and as a service provider for the School Community. The Executive Director (ED) manages the overall activities of the Foundation.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and preferably a master’s degree; 5 years in non-profit experience or equivalent experience; supervisory experience.

Position Reports to: The ED reports to the Foundation’s Board of Directors and works closely with the Board Chair.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Foundation Board to identify, create and implement strategic plans to actualize the EFIRC objectives.
  • Supervise the Director of Development and the Administrative Assistant. The ED should ensure that appropriate employee policies are in place and are followed.
  • Elevate the image and marketing of the EFIRC.
  • Work closely with the Indian River County School District to support their programs and fundraise for future projects.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors along with the Director of Development.
  • Write and submit grant applications which will provide support for the Foundation’s programs.
  • Manage the Foundation’s operations including the operating budget. The ED should ensure that all funds are properly managed and allocated and ensures compliance with internal controls and procedures.
  • The ED represents the EFIRC in the community. This includes relations with other non-profit organizations, service organizations, government leaders, and businesses.
  • Represent the EFIRC at events in a way that would strengthen the brand and communicate the EFIRC message.
  • Be an active member of the volunteer Campaign Steering Committee.
  • Be a member of the Foundation Board.

Required:

  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement the EFIRC goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to train, coach and mentor staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility in approaching problems.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of finance related standards.

Job Type: Full-time
