Olympic College is recruiting a full-time, tenure track faculty to join the Business and Accounting Transfer discipline, in the Business and Technology Division. The team of three fulltime and 3-5 adjunct faculty work collaboratively to offer the Associate in Business Direct Transfer Degree. Core business classes include a three-quarter college-level accounting series, Macro and Microeconomics, Business Statistics, Business Law, and Introduction to Business. The faculty in this position will teach accounting in the transfer and the professional technical accounting programs, and other courses as needed.

A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.

Job Description

Essential Duties

  • Teach a combination of accounting and business courses;
  • Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses when required;
  • Collaborate with professional technical accounting faculty to develop streamlined professional technical and college accounting course offerings;
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities;
  • Provide student advising for career/academic pathways, mentoring, and support;
  • Contribute to development of curriculum and student learning outcomes;
  • Contribute to the assessment of student learning outcomes;
  • Punctual communication with students, faculty, staff and administrators;
  • Maintain physical office hours for student consultation;
  • Participate in department and division meetings;
  • Serve on appropriate college and community committees;
  • Facilitate partnerships with four-year institutions to increase and nurture transfer agreements; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Successful college teaching experience
  • Competent using technology

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant license
  • Three years professional experience in an accounting, business or finance organization
  • Competency-based curriculum development experience
  • Experience teaching online

  • Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College approved learning management system.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.

Conditions of Employment
