What You Will Do:


The University of Maryland Charles Regional Health is seeking an Executive Director of the Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation, Inc., reporting directly to the President and CEO and the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, who will be responsible for leading and strengthening a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the Foundation’s mission and goals. Specific emphasis focused on annual giving, major giving, planned giving, grants and fundraising events. They also provide leadership of Volunteer Services for the Medical Center.

The Executive Director builds and maintains long-term relationships with key and potential donors. They attend fundraising events, oversees the distribution of funds and evaluates the effectiveness of programs that support both the Hospital’s and Foundation’s mission, vision and goals.


What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. A degree in nonprofit management, marketing/ business/public administration/communications desired.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible fundraising experience, with a record of accomplishment in development work, 5 years of management experience and working with a Board of Directors required.
  • Evidence of continued growth through education and participation in professional fundraising organizations, CFRE or ACFRE preferred. In depth knowledge of fundraising and development strategies, trends, in foundation management as well as the importance of donor relations, and fundraising history.
  • Strong financial management skills required with budget preparation, analysis and presentation of detailed financial data related to the overall health and well-being of the Foundation required.
  • Experience managing a comprehensive Volunteer Program
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, management and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, Excel, databases and demonstrated experience with Foundation-specific programs, such as Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge and Crescendo.
  • Experience in leading and managing day-to-day office, administrative functions and volunteer services. Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff and volunteer team of top-quality people.
  • Identify, apply and manage external grant programs that support the mission of the Foundation and the Medical Center.
  • Ability to report out fundraising results using technology and real time data capture with access to dashboards and fundraising metrics of greatest importance to success of Foundation.
  • Must act ethically to safeguard confidential information and adhere to the University of Maryland Medical System compliance requirements.
