SUMMARY
The Spectrum Theater Technical Director/Scene Shop Carpenter at GRCC is a multifaceted position that liaises with faculty, staff, students, and the community. This position provides support for theater students, theater program, theater production and theater faculty.


Essential Job Functions
? Responsible for the scenic construction needs for Spectrum Theater shows.
? Oversees the operation of the Spectrum Theater Scene Shop.
? Maintains the Spectrum Theater warehouse
? Assists and supervises students in the use of hand and power tools and insures appropriate safety procedures
are followed.
? Works with scenic designer to create cost/time effective solutions for scenic elements
? Coordinates removal of all scenic elements and furniture upon completion of production
? Creates a regular shop schedule for theater students
? Creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for GRCC students
? Attends production meetings as needed
? Works with all designers to create production schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
? Estimates construction costs and monitors scenery budget for individual productions.
? Evaluates and proposes purchase of new scene shop and stage equipment.
? Coordinates with the Director of Spectrum Theater and Spectrum Theater Manager in areas of venue scheduling
for other campus and community groups.
? Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers
and performing the essential functions of this position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education/License

? Bachelor’s Degree in theater with an emphasis on technical theater or certification in residential construction.
? National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred.

Work Experience
? Experience with carpentry and welding preferred.
