Job Description

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR 3, School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) (part-time, 60%), to manage financial operations and other administrative functions in the SA+P Dean's Office (DO).  Will act as resource for faculty and staff, provide guidance on a variety of finance and operational matters, and assist with the communication of financial/administrative policies/procedures.  Responsibilities include managing the DO operations budget (approx. $8M) and daily transactions; managing annual budget development for DO and assisting with SA+P's annual budget preparations (including projections) and submission; managing budgets and approving expenditures, purchasing, credit and travel card transactions, and other accounting-related tasks; processing interim budget adjustments and fund transfers; monitoring, reconciling, and preparing projections and reports on cost objects individually and in various groupings; providing financial services, guidance, and troubleshooting as liaison to SA+P departments, labs, and centers (DLCs) and MIT central administration; assisting DLCs with approvals as needed; independently resolving complex accounting problems/issues; preparing reports, memos, and other correspondence; managing payroll distribution and approvals; managing Roles authorizations; and performing administrative duties as needed, e.g., event assistance, parking and key administration, special projects, and representing SA+P on committees/working groups.  

 

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree; five years’ financial/accounting experience; budget and financial analysis experience; ability to build relationships both internally and externally; sound judgment and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; collaborative approach to delivering services and solutions; self-motivation; flexibility; ability to set and achieve priorities; comfort working in a highly diverse environment; strong analytical and organizational skills; and strong MS Office skills (e.g., Excel and Word), including ability to create and manipulate Excel spreadsheets.  PREFERRED:  working knowledge of MIT financial policies/procedures and operational systems, i.e., SAP, NIMBUS, COUPA, Concur, BrioQuery, and Cognos.  Job #21417-8
