Job Description
The aligned Human Resources department of Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) and Anoka Technical College (ATC) is dedicated to providing high quality assistance to the college community. The HR Specialist will coordinate the processing of faculty transactions between Academic Affairs and the HR service center to ensure faculty are paid accurately and according to payroll deadlines. This position will serve as the main contact for all faculty questions regarding pay issues, insurance, retirement options and payouts, seniority, appointment status, etc. This position will interpret bargaining unit language, and research and resolve complex issues with faculty assignments. This position will serve as a resource for academic deans and the faculty workload management (FWM) processor.
This position will have responsibilities at all 3 campuses and the home campus will be the Rapids campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment and success working in a diverse and multi-cultural and multiracial community
  • One (1) year of professional Human Resources experience
  • Previous experience working with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) related to personnel transactions, work assignments or payroll
  • Analytical skills sufficient to interpret and analyze complex information/problems, audit data and identify, research and resolve issues using collective bargaining agreements, personnel laws and regulations
  • Interpersonal communication skills sufficient to explain complicated insurance, retirement and/or salary issues effectively and professionally with sensitivity to diverse clientele
  • Mathematical and technical skills sufficient to review and audit difficult personnel/payroll calculations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or experience working with collective bargaining unit agreements
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with tight deadlines
  • Experience working with employer provided retirement plans to determine eligibility and payouts
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MinnState) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MinnState’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
