Calvin Community is nestled in the heart of Des Moines’s Beaverdale neighborhood. Calvin Community is a not-for-profit senior living community focused on serving older adults in a caring, Christian Community designed to meet their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs and contribute to their health, security, and happiness. Calvin Community proudly provides high-quality, compassionate services in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, long-term care, and memory support care for residents.
The successful candidate for this position should be a self-starter, willing to roll up their sleeves, and partner with staff to support Calvin’s culture to deliver an inviting, wonderful place to live. The individual will bring a passion for elder care, a background in change management, and the desire to develop, motivate and refine a high-performing team within a family-oriented community.
Key Accountabilities of the President/Chief Executive Officer include:
  • Ensure financial stability and provide leadership to the entire campus operations, including Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care.
  • Oversee the operational and financial outcomes necessary to meet census and occupancy targets in all areas of the community.
  • Establish criteria and/or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality, productivity, or service
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, Medicare regulations, and the agency's policies and procedures.
  • Engage with staff to coach, mentor, and build a high-performing team in all areas.
  • Ability to effectively lead and deliver outcomes with an emphasis on creating customer and team member experiences aligned to hospitality, person-directed, and associate satisfaction.
  • Apply knowledge and acumen to address and support operational changes in a rapidly changing and evolving aspect of health care.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in administration in long-term care, continuing care, or another related senior service.
  • Current Iowa Nursing Home Administrators license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMS requirements and COVID metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and foster change in a changing health care environment
