Position Summary
Governors State University’s AACSB accredited College of Business seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting beginning August 2022. This is a one year appointment covering fall 2022 and spring/summer 2023 terms. Visiting Assistant Professors will be appointed for a specific period of time. This temporary faculty position’s primary duties will emphasize teaching responsibilities in Accounting, including teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in financial accounting, accounting information systems, intermediate financial accounting, or other accounting courses as needed.

Although this position is not tenure-track and not a part of the faculty bargaining unit, it may be an ideal position for an ABD candidate to obtain significant teaching experience prior to going into the tenure track market. In the near future there will also be a separate posting for a tenure track position that will begin the following academic year. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply to both positions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • ABD in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Meets AACSB qualifications for Scholarly Academic (SA) or Practice Academic (PA)
  • Experience teaching accounting courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Accounting or a related field
  • Teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Experience teaching online.
  • Professional certifications or work experience
  • Experience with software/tools such as Spreadsheets, Database, Quickbooks, SAP
