Alfond Recreation Center Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Alfond Recreation Center Director is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of intercollegiate and recreational programming, oversight of the physical plant known as the Alfond Recreation Center, supervision of student employees, scheduling of the basketball court area, and oversight of the fitness center. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing wellness programming and health events and initiatives. The office is located on the KVCC Harold Alfond Campus in Hinckley, but duties may also be performed on the KVCC Fairfield Campus. Hours worked may include evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree in business, sports medicine, education, or related field with two to three years of experience in athletics, sports or recreation facilities are required. Additional requirements include: collegiate athletic experience, preferably as a player, coach, or previous athletic administrative experience; some background in student development, working with both traditional and non-traditional student populations; some knowledge of student recreational programming is also useful; residential living experience, preferably as a resident assistant or residence hall association student leader; some background in student development, working with traditionally aged student population; and some knowledge of student programming is also useful. Strong written and oral skills are necessary in addition to computer skills that incorporate WORD, EXCEL, Canvas or any other designer software.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System Trustees and the MEA Administrators Bargaining Unit, Level III, Salary Range $40,183.22 -$52,430.00. Benefits include: Retirement choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) or Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) – in lieu of Social Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Vacation 15 days/year; Personal 2 days/year; Sick 12 days/year; and 13 paid holidays.
