About You
The primary role of the Programs Director (PD) is to strategically guide programs the support the World Coffee
Championships. The PD will evaluate content and delivery systems to maximize impact to the community and to support SCA strategic goals. The job will oversee the evolution of WCC programs including establishing KPIs, incorporating community feedback, aligning content with SCA’s education, research, and knowledge departments, and planning and implementing new programs until they are stable enough to be assumed and maintained by

Key Responsibilities

  • Set strategy & goals for essential WCC programs: Judge Certification, World Competitions Educational Program,

WCE Representative programs, R&R subcommittee groups, etc.

  • Implement plans for program delivery.
  • Grow participation pools
  • Develop and carry out detailed project plan for delivery of these programs by coordinating with internal staff

(including direct reports, upward management, and other departments) and external parties.

  • Judge Certification: Align content to better reflect current knowledge, standards, and evolution of competitions. Improve delivery systems to reach a more diverse pool of candidates and grow the program’s reach.
  • World Competitions Educational Program: Update content and improve delivery systems to optimize impact.
  • WCE Representative Program: Establish clear training path to become a WCE Rep. Implement a QC program to support current WCE Reps and Competitions Bodies.
  • Collaborate on a recognition system for highly engaged WCC stakeholders.
  • R&R Committees: oversee Rules & Regulation updates. Hire and supervise Lead Authors to create rule sets.
  • Support Competition Strategic Committee (CSC) Chair and Events Officer with competitions evolution & future planning.
  • Oversee management of staffing, both contract and internal.
  • Consistently communicates upwards to escalate issues, communicate goal tracking, and ensure strategic alignment with other departments (education, research, SKD, etc.).
  • Consistently evaluate programs and systems to ensure alignment with company goals and efficacy across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Maintains clear and accessible systems, to ensure event data is captured and retained in perpetuity.
  • Works with Events Officer to improve tools, documents, and processes for future success.
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to direct reports, in order to build capacity, teamwork, comradery, & strategic alignment.
  • Consistently focused on personal and professional development.

Your Experience

  • Must be a team player, demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, and have a professional demeanor.
  • Minimum 5 years strategic management or operations experience in innovative events, competitions, or similar professional meeting environments.
  • Technical/educational writing a plus.
  • Experience in the coffee, beverage or foodservice industries a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,500.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
