Savannah Technical College seeks an experienced individual to serve as a Maintenance Supervisor. The primary responsibility of this position is supervising and performing maintenance and repair of college buildings and grounds, to include preventive maintenance to the Savannah Campus, and other campuses as needed. Additional maintenance support will be provided for campus buildings, fixtures, other equipment, and properties.

Required Competencies

• Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and practices of building and grounds maintenance
• Knowledge of custodial tools, supplies and techniques
• Working skill in diagnosing maintenance and repair problems.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
• Knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, etc. system maintenance and repair
• Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs
• Decision making and problem solving skills
• Skill in the supervision of personnel
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
• Oral and written communication skills
• Working ability to repair facilities mechanical equipment systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction plans, specifications and blueprints required.
• Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
• Ability to lift, push, and carry heavy items.
• Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurability.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent *and* three (3) years' related experience.
• Valid driver's license and proof of insurability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience in a large scale maintenance facility in a skilled trade (electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC) or building maintenance preferred.

Physical Demands

This work requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing ladders, and lifting objects over 50 pounds. A high degree of dexterity is required to use tools and equipment. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to heat, cold, or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The ability to distinguish between shades of color when working with electrical wiring is required.

Salary/Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Benefits package.
