Lecturer in Statistics and Mathematics (Learning Development)
£36,382, rising annually to £39,739
Full Time, Permanent - Academic
This is a full time, permanent academic appointment, within the Centre for Academic Development.
Overall purpose of post: To develop Mathematics and Statistics skills in an HE setting working with both staff and students to help students reach their academic potential. To lead in the delivery and future development of the Mathematics and Statistics provision in the Centre for Academic Development, designing and delivering workshops and online resources within the department and embedded support in faculties.
You should have:
- A Higher degree in maths / stats or related field
- A teaching qualification e.g. PGCE or PGCTHE, Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
- Teaching experience in both Mathematics and Statistics within HE or FE, ideally in a learning development setting.
- Experience of working with statistical/mathematical software e.g. Excel, Matlab, R.
- Awareness of the range of issues in maths and stats that present in different subject disciplines.
You will be:
- Teaching Statistics and Mathematics to students individually, in small and large groups, online and in-person.
- Working with colleagues across the numerate disciplines to embed Mathematical and Statistical skills in programme content.
- Identifying and, where appropriate, developing effective online resources for Mathematics and Statistics and leading in technology-enhanced learning in Mathematics and Statistics.
Start Date: Summer 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
