Description of Work Unit
The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 3,800 undergraduate students in six business concentrations and the business administration minor and is the largest undergraduate major on campus. In addition, the college enrolls approximately 1,500 students in five different MBA programs and three department-based graduate programs in the Master of Accountancy, the Master of Computer Information Systems, and the Master of Financial Risk Management. The Department of Finance and Real Estate is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department has a strong record of research and teaching accomplishments and expects faculty to be active in the academic community. The Department provides undergraduate concentrations in finance (with options in corporate finance, investments, and real estate), financial planning, and real estate, offers a graduate program in finance, and participates in the other graduate programs of the College. The Department currently has 13 tenure-track and 9 non-tenure track faculty. The Department serves the more than 650 undergraduate students in finance and real estate and supports a successful master’s program in the finance area. The College serves approximately 2,100 undergraduate business majors, 1,600 undergraduate students enrolled in the business minor, and 1,600 M.B.A. students. The M.B.A. is offered in residence and via Colorado State University’s accredited distance learning programs. Colorado State University is a Carnegie Research Extensive Institution with a land grant mission serving approximately 27,000 graduate and undergraduate students.

Position Summary
The Department of Finance and Real Estate invites applications for the position of Instructor of Finance and Real Estate. This is a 9-month non-tenure track continuing appointment with benefits and a renewable contract of one year.
The teaching load for this position is a 50% FTE workload position consisting of 4 courses annually to be determined by the Department chair. In particular, this position addresses teaching needs in the areas of real estate and/or financial planning.
Specific Responsibilities include: Teaching real estate and/or financial planning courses in the undergraduate program, including in the Business minor, and potentially in the College’s MBA programs. Evening and on-line teaching may be required. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of course delivery, including syllabus production, lecturing, meeting with students, and assigning final grades. Some courses have multiple sections and several instructors/lecturers/professors, and thus instructors are required to coordinate syllabi and grading standards.

Required Job Qualifications
Applicants must have a masters degree in finance or a related field.
Applicants must also have a demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and will typically have multiple semesters of experience teaching real estate and/or financial planning in a College of Business.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and collegiality are essential.
Ability to effectively coordinate with other faculty members and contribute to improving the content and delivery of the departmental courses is also required.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with (1) directly relevant teaching experience, (2) relevant professional experience, (3) demonstrated excellence in teaching real estate and/or financial planning, and (4) ability to positively contribute to a collegial atmosphere in the Department and the College.
