Position description

The Latino and Latin American Research and Studies Center at the University of California Riverside, invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral position in Spanish Critical Sociolinguistics and Language Education at the LatCrit Sociocultural Linguistics Lab, during the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful candidate will have a background in Latinx and Latin American Studies, Mexican studies, Critical Sociolinguistics, Critical Applied Linguistics, and/or Critical Language Education. Experience with mix methodologies will complement our current strengths in our linguistics area of studies.

The LatCrit Sociocultural Linguistics Lab Postdoc will join the leadership team of a vibrant campus in a Hispanic Serving Institution. The position entails duties connected with research on Sociocultural Linguistics and Critical Language Education, RA overseeing, and participation in curriculum development. A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as an interest in collaborating with diverse faculty across campus in interdisciplinary endeavors are highly valued.

Successful candidate should have minimum qualifications of an M.A. degree in a related field and be at least ABD at time of application. A Ph.D. is required at time of start date. Candidates should have scholarly expertise on topics related to the field in Critical Sociolinguistics or Critical Applied Linguistics or related discipline. Excellent written communication skills. Proficiency with statistical analysis and social scientific qualitative methods, especially interviewing. Candidates trained in both qualitative and quantitative methods are preferred.
