Job Description

Eastern Oregon University (EOU), College of Business (COB) in La Grande, Oregon is seeking a qualified assistant or associate professor for a tenure-track appointment in Accounting and Finance.

The College of Business provides high-quality, high-value, transfer-friendly and practical on-campus and online undergraduate IACBE accredited Business Administration and Accounting degrees and minors, agriculture entrepreneurship, marketing and economics degrees and minors; and online degrees in emergency medical services administration, fire services administration, MBA, and a post-baccalaureate accounting certificates The College also offers business services through the EOU-SBDC, Mine Safety and Health Training Program, IRS’ sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program, and Eastern Oregon Center for Economic Information (EOCEI).

Compensation is based on the successful applicant’s relevant teaching experience. This position comes with a generous healthcare package for both employee and all family dependents, paid holidays, paid sick time, state employee retirement pension, and other fringe benefits.

Appointment begins September 16, 2022.
Responsibilities

  • The typical tenure-track teaching load at EOU is 36 quarter credits a year (appx. 3 courses per term) with an additional 9 credits dedicated to scholarship, service to the institution, and community outreach. The successful candidate’s teaching responsibilities will include on-campus and online courses. Primary teaching responsibilities in undergraduate and graduate level financial accounting, AIS, tax and finance, others as needed.
  • Advising students.
  • College and institutional service.
  • Community outreach.
  • Commitment to recurring scholarship commensurate with lACBE accreditation principles and EOU tenure requirements.
  • Provide leadership in program and curriculum development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Hold a master’s degree (or equivalent post-graduate degree) in accountancy and a credential of CPA or CMA.
  • Five years of experience as a professional accountant.
  • Online teaching experience in accounting.
  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University does not sponsor applicants for employment visas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold an earned doctorate in a field of accounting or business or hold ABD status in an accounting or business degree program and provide evidence of degree completion by start date.
  • Online and in person teaching experience in accounting and/or finance.
  • Two or more years of progressive experience as a professional accountant
  • Professional experience or credential related to financial planning, wealth management, financial management, financial reporting, and/or investment analysis experience.
  • Experience advising diverse students.

Salary Assistant/Associate Professor salary is determined by weighted years of service based upon the faculty union contract.
