Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Employer Development Consultant plays a critical role driving the growth and expansion of our employer portfolio. They are passionate about connecting employers with our Smith School Students we serve and are dedicated to a high-performance environment. The purpose of this position is to establish year-over-year strategies to optimize relationships with employers who value Smith talent and will hire Smith graduates into great jobs, affording career development opportunities, competitive compensation, and opportunities to lead businesses as they evolve. The OCS team focuses primarily on generating hires with specific time frames in order to support top rankings and support the Smith brand as we attract new students. In addition, the OCS partners with internal education and development partners to involve employers in the overall mission of Smith as co-educators in the classroom and through donor support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree. A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in business development, corporate recruiting and selection, sales, marketing, public relations or communications. Extensive experience interacting with senior-level manager and executives required. Strong familiarity with current trends in higher education
Strong familiarity with current industry hiring trends within different industries and functional areas Strong understanding of talent acquisition hiring life cycle for entry levels and experienced levels; Demonstrated public speaking ability; Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills; Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and sustain a high level of professionalism
Excellent written and oral skills; Strong client service values and a high level of enthusiasm in dealing with internal and external clients; Experience with executives in a corporate business environment; Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks, while paying attention to detail; Ability to work independently as well as in a team
Excellent follow through and responsiveness; Must be a dynamic customer service oriented person who displays mature judgment; Proficiency in current word processing, email, spreadsheet and presentation software; Proficient in managing databases and producing statistical reports
Proficient in CRM tools and databases such as SalesForce, LinkedIn, Trello, and other recruiting platforms. Willingness and ability to take on duties outside of specific job functions to serve needs of the School; High level of enthusiasm for the University and the Smith School. Domestic and local travel is required; Reliable form of transportation for travel to/from client and prospective student meetings

Preferences:

Master’s degree in a relevant field and/or significant experience in employer relations, relationship management, business development or corporate recruitment. Working with HR or staffing firms a plus. Cross-functional and cross-industry experience highly desired. Connectivity within the labor market highly desired. Understanding of technology industry/hiring trends desired. Experience working in a business school/higher education preferred (e.g., Undergraduate, Specialty Masters, MBA, EMBA, etc.).
