PT Instructor - Athletics & Kinesiology (Head Coach Women's Volleyball) - Continuous Applicant Pool

Job Duties

Santa Monica College is accepting applications for a Head Women’s Volleyball Coach beginning Spring 2022. Duties include all aspects of planning and supervision of team practices, team conditioning programs, game scheduling, assisting with team eligibility processes, budget management, assist in hiring and supervision of assistant coaching staff, teach varsity sport and kinesiology classes as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions. 
Master's degree in Kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR Master’s degree in any discipline, plus two (2) years combined of teaching in the discipline of the assignment or professional experience in a field related to the discipline of the assignment OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above; plus six (6) years combined of teaching in the discipline of the assignment or professional experience in a field related to the discipline of the assignment 

The equivalent (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link). OR -A valid Community College credential in the discipline. 

Current Class B Driver's License (successful candidate will be given time to obtain prior to employment).

Verifiable evidence of professional activities and service beyond the primary teaching assignment, development and review of curriculum as well as including assessment of learning, demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.

First Aid/CPR/AED certifications  

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated successful coaching experience and playing experience collegiate level. Minimum of three years of experience coaching volleyball at the collegiate level.  Familiar with the policies and regulations for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). 
 
Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field, knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at community colleges, including effective use of technology, effective oral and written communication skills.

Pay Philosophy

Starting salary for Part Time Faculty is based on educational achievement and relevant prior employment experience up to but not beyond Step 4.  Further step advancement shall occur at the beginning of the intersession or semester following completion of multiples of 30 LHE at Santa Monica College.
