About the opportunity

The Sydney School of Education and Social Work (SSESW) has another exciting opportunity for a part-time Lecturer (Level B) in Comparative and International Education specialising in global education, policy studies (postgraduate education focus). This role involves predominantly online teaching, and is teaching focused with research and governance allocations (60:20:20), to work with the teaching team in Comparative and International Education and Sociology of Education in the Education Studies Major and Education I-IV program.

Teaching (60)

This position will primarily contribute to the Masters of Education (International) online coordination and teaching. Teaching duties will include unit co-coordination, lecturing and supervision of Special Projects. Coordination will be negotiated in consultation with the Masters of Education (International) Stream Coordinator and Education I-IV Program Director. Subject to negotiation, coordination and teaching will include Masters units EDPB5002; 5014; 5017; 5018 and / or 6013. Teaching may also include contributions to units EDUF3026 and EDUF3027 and Sociology of Education units in (i) The previous Education I-IV program and (ii) the new Education Studies Major.

Research (20)

This teaching focussed position includes a proportion of time for research activity and research outputs in collaboration with one or more members of the Comparative and International Education team. Research activity will be supported and planned in consultation with the Stream Coordinator. There is an expectation that outputs will contribute to the activities within Comparative and International Education, which supports the school and university strategic goals.

Governance, Leadership and Engagement - GLE (20)

The position requires the role to contribute to SSESW GLE activities as appropriate for a Level B Academic. The position will be expected to undertake teaching administration duties, participate in school and faculty meetings and events.

About you

  • PhD (or close to completion) in Comparative and International Education, or in Sociology of Education with relevant CIE elements.
  • record of experience in postgraduate education in CIE, inclusive of unit coordination
  • record of success in teaching and research in CIE with specialisation in global education and policy studies
  • developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating online teaching and learning initiatives
  • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • demonstrated capacity to stipulate, actively engage and educate an audience using a range of media
  • experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
  • a proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice.
