Reporting to the President & CEO, the Chief Program Officer (CPO) will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team and will collaboratively articulate, implement and operationalize the strategic vision, mission and goals of the agency. The CPO will oversee all of HAP programs and related services and will continually evaluate the effectiveness of programs to provide ongoing feedback, guide strategic and nimble service delivery to strengthen funding diversification and program outcomes.

The CPO will contribute and participate in raising the agency’s profile externally by providing productive guidance, supervision, and professional development to all program management staff; and continuously improve, strengthen the structure of the organization by staying abreast of development and strategic trends in equity, disparities reduction, and policies that impact HAP’s community and constituents.

  • Salary: $110,000 to $130,000; Depending on qualifications
  • Hours/Days: Mon – Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (evenings and weekends as needed).

Position Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Relationship Builder

  • Under the direction of the President & CEO, implement HAP’s new strategic plan, as well as develop and implement new initiatives that reflect the organization’s mission.
  • Represent HAP and HAP’s President & CEO, on relevant committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels and trainings.
  • Oversee HAP program areas, planning and quality assurance, and database and evaluation research functions.
  • Develop an inclusive, equitable team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward vision and goal, by clearly communicating agency vision, implementing yearly staff development plans.
  • Support the President & CEO and executive team to continued financial and operational viability and sound fiscal management.

Program Leadership & Supervision

  • In coordination with the President & CEO and executive leadership team, play a key role in the overall development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management of the organization across multiple areas.
  • Directly supervise three program areas including directors and several managers; working closely with senior program staff to build their skills and confidence so that they can engage, encourage, and motivate all staff. Provide assistance and guidance on how to troubleshoot program and staff performance challenges.
  • Direct and lead the daily operations of programs and services including coordination and support of managers and directors.

Financial & Fundraising Acumen

  • In partnership with the Chief Finance Officer, participate in the budget development process and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility.
  • Work closely with the finance department to budget and monitor programmatic operations to ensure sound fiscal and system management.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Development, support development/fund development efforts through the promotion and execution of HAP’s annual fundraising events, program grant development and partnering with the President & CEO to steward funding/external relationships.
  • Coordinate with the President & CEO, Development Director, Development staff, on developing new program ideas and pilot projects, including integrating successful pilots into the program department.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of ten years of increasing senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, government, or philanthropy, overseeing multiple programs or contracts ideally at an organization serving immigrants and refugees.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree in Business/Public Administration/Nonprofit Management or a related field is strongly desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
