Job Description

The Department of Accounting & Finance, School of Business, St. John Fisher College, Rochester, New York, invites applications and nominations for a full time Tenure Track Assistant Professor Accounting (Taxation), starting fall 2022.
The SJFC Accounting Program has a national reputation in the field of tax. The program requires students to work directly with the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations in their undergraduate and graduate tax courses. Over the past decade or more, student teams have consistently placed highly in the regional Deloitte FanTAXtic Case Competition and gone on to nationals. One of these teams placed first at the national level and another was the national first runner up.
Accredited by AACSB International, the School of Business (SOB) at St. John Fisher College offers majors in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Management and Human Resource Management, as well as an MBA with an accounting concentration.. Approximately 550 undergraduates are enrolled in these majors and an additional 60 students are enrolled in the MBA program, which has an accounting concentration. The successful candidate will teach tax courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as other courses in accounting or law, depending on their qualifications. The successful candidate will also oversee registration and preparation of the team(s) that enter the Deloitte FanTaXtic Case Competition. The SOB has multiple student-driven clubs, including accounting, investment, leadership and entrepreneurship clubs, and has a trading lab equipped with 9 Bloomberg terminals, with three additional Bloomberg workstations for use outside the classroom.

Job Responsibilities
Faculty in the department carry a three-three teaching load and are expected to be effective and committed teachers. They are also expected to engage in scholarship to build and maintain a strong publication record, advise students and perform service to the college and the profession
Education / Experience
Minimal Qualifications: M.S. in Taxation or a J.D. with an LL.M. in Taxation.
Competencies / Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate the capacity to produce and publish original scholarship in peer reviewed journals, law reviews, or other publications which support classification as “Scholarly Academic” under the guidelines of AACSB International. The requirements for scholarship must be met and maintained for the School’s AACSB accreditation. Successful candidates should also demonstrate the ability to be an effective teacher (including the ability to learn and incorporate data analytics into their courses) and a collaborative team player, and to demonstrate a commitment to service at the department, college, and community levels.
