General Summary

Part-time office clerk to work five days a week, four hours a day in order to answer phones, greet visitor, field questions, file, participate in all functions of the Children’s Center and other office duties as assigned.

Specific Position Duties

       The person selected for the position must maintain the children’s files in accordance with Texas Department; ·         Follow and implement Protective and Regulatory Services Minimum Standards and Guidelines for Day Care Centers; ·         Assist in billing;; ·         Assist in completing all other required state and federal forms and reports; ·         Assist with CCMS (Child Care Management Services) attendance for CCMS clients and assist in maintaining West Texas Opportunities paperwork ·         Assist with recording enrollment payments and tuition with guidance from Director; ·         Responsible for the general supervision and management of the Children’s Center on a daily basis in the absence of the Director and/or secretary; ·         Handle routine office work for the Children’s Center including filing; ·         Answer prospective parent questions over the telephone or in person; ·         Handle first aid emergencies; ·         Maintain CPR and First Aide certification; ·         Pass criminal background checks and FBI fingerprinting; ·         Must pass WorkSteps; and ·         Perform other duties as assigned. ·         Must earn at least 30 clock hours of training per year starting at hire date by attending recommended training programs, on-line trainings, workshops , or attending Child Development classes;

Minimum Qualifications

   | 1.        The office clerk must meet the staff requirements of the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Service Standards for Day-Care Centers; 2.        Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or its equivalent; 3.        Must have competency in office skills including typing, spelling, and the use of grammar; 4.        Must have filing skills and ability to organize, maintain, and retrieve from a large system; 5.        Must be proficient in Windows; 6.        Must possess maturity and sensitivity, with the ability to relate well to both children and adults; 7.        Must have the ability to understand and follow the philosophy of the Odessa College Children’s Center; 8.        Must supply supportive references and work experience; and 9.        Must be able to pass the WorkSTEPS assessment.
