If so, we 're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking an emerging structural analyst to help us develop and test sophisticated target and interceptor flight systems.

 

As a structural analyst...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to develop and run structural models in support of a broad range of missile programs.
  • You will implement first principles techniques to develop loads to design, analyze, and test a variety of mechanical systems, including flight hardware.
  • You will engage with and contribute to diverse multi-disciplinary teams with the goal of solving engineering problems critical to the nation 's defense.
  • You will apply a range of analysis tools including high-fidelity FEA software to analyze and evaluate design decisions for missile and related systems.
  • You will creatively use engineering knowledge to perform structural analysis of ground breaking flight hardware and supporting systems.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Have 1+ years of professional experience with commercial finite element analysis (FEA) codes such as Abaqus, Nastran, or Ansys
  • Familiarity with MATLAB or Python programming directed towards tackling engineering problems
  • An understanding of strength of materials and FEA techniques
  • Are interested in developing your skills in the areas of structural analysis and design
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with some history of making important, engineering contributions to diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
