VP - Fundraising Transformation

Full Job Description

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking an experienced project manager and strategic leader to fill the position of Vice President – Resource Development Transformation. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, and with a focus on Habitat within the US, the VP is a visionary change agent for one of Habitat’s priority strategic initiatives, the Collaborative Operating Model (COM). As a member of the Resource Development Management Group, the VP partners with many stakeholders across the organization, including Resource Development, US Office leadership, Finance, IT, Communications, HR, Strategy, etc., as well as with leaders of the US Habitat affiliated network to co-create and implement a future state of collaborative fundraising in the US that positions Habitat for sustainable growth, relevance, and mission impact for decades to come.

The VP collaborates with subject matter experts and leads the development and implementation of a complex multi-year collaborative fundraising roadmap that integrates core principles of organizational design, resource planning, change management and risk management. The VP also serves as a key champion and advocate for the initiative, both with HFHI staff and affiliate leaders, local affiliate boards of directors and staff members as the new collaborative fundraising model is presented and implemented.

This position may be based remotely within the US and involves up to 30% travel.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATIVE OPERATING MODEL:

The Collaborative Operating Model is a strategic effort of Habitat’s US entities — affiliates, state support organizations and HFHI — to make a truly collaborative, high-trust and sustainable model that materially boosts our mission to impact the housing deficit at scale. From a fundraising standpoint, this effort aims to pursue a donor-centric, collaborative resource development model that minimizes competition between HFHI and affiliates; enables efficient fundraising; builds resource development capabilities across the ministry; and ultimately raises more resources for all.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the development of overarching strategy roadmap for US Resource Development transformation and oversee its implementation (60%)

  • Lead development of documenting narrative and vision for future state of collaborative fundraising; align and train Resource Development division on definition of collaboration for unified approach to vision and future state.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (Direct Marketing, Major Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate, Resource Development Operations) to ensure individual channel strategies are documented and ladder to overarching strategy for future state of collaborative fundraising.
  • Identify opportunities to support Resource Development subject matter experts so their time can be best leveraged towards fundraising and optimize their expertise and engagement in advancing the COM transformational workstreams.
  • Oversee development of integrated timeline, budget, and roadmap to highlight critical dependencies between workstreams and resource requirements within Resource Development and across the organization to meet milestones and key dates; sponsor on-going steering team to ensure adherence to timelines and issues are flagged early.
  • Ensure that the Resource Development roadmap documents and aligns roles, processes, and responsibilities across divisions for clear assignment of accountability for specific deliverables leading to successful implementation and outcomes.
  • Drive measurement and communication of all reporting and monitoring against the roadmap to stakeholders.


Serve as leadership champion, change agent and advocate for the COM and future of collaborative fundraising internally and across affiliated network (30%)

  • Partner with the VP of US Transformation to serve as change agent across HFHI and with key affiliate leaders to be ambassadors for COM and engage hearts and minds.
  • Serve as a representative of the Collaborative Operating Model for the HFHI Transformation Plan leader meetings.
  • Represent Resource Development future of fundraising on the C360 Steering Committee.
  • Coordinate monthly Resource Development work group meetings with affiliate leaders advancing COM efforts; lead development of new Resource Development Advisory Group and recommendations for future group function.
  • Represent Resource Development on COM Executive Task Force and other critical work groups; serve as critical point of contact for key affiliate leaders as part of the change management journey.


Additional work to support the Collaborative Operating Model (10%)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pursuant to current HFHI policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years of experience with fundraising, organizational design, change management, or operational/management experience in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated success completing multiple projects concurrently, while balancing competing priorities; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing complex projects spanning multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Experience driving change through matrixed teams.
  • Commitment to and experience in driving continuous improvement and process change.
  • Experience ensuring accountability for outcomes through influence vs. authority.
  • Experience effectively using MS Office applications, including word-processing, spreadsheet, database and project software.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English with excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent team building skills.
  • Highly collaborative and solutions-oriented with a commitment to delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
