What You’ll Do

Opportunity to develop and deepen children’s health policy expertise working for mission driven organization representing children’s hospitals and their patients with policymakers. The Policy Manager is a key member of the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) Public Policy team. The manager leads policy support and advancement of federal administrative and legislative policies and programs impacting children’s health and children’s hospitals. Priority issue areas include: Medicaid, CHIP, private insurance, children’s mental health, pediatric workforce, Children’s Hospital Graduate Medicaid Education Program, access to pediatric drugs, federal 340B Drug Pricing Program, TRICARE, price transparency, pediatric quality measurement, and pediatric disaster preparedness.

  • Serve as content expert for CHA in assigned issue areas.
  • Influence federal guidance, regulations and other policy actions that impact children’s hospitals on assigned issues, including analyzing and developing detailed regulatory comments
  • Advance policy positions on assigned issue areas with the administration and Congress, working with CHA legislative affairs team and children’s hospitals
  • Develop successful working partnerships with staff within HHS, Hill staff and other experts in the field on assigned policy issues.
  • Lead research and policy projects to support children’s hospital advocacy
  • Represent CHA at outside meetings of national allied organizations.
  • Provide technical assistance and policy analysis support directly to children’s hospitals and internal CHA staff on assigned issues.

Required Experience:

What You’ll Bring to CHA

  • Candidates should have 5-7 years of professional experience in health care policy-related field and have demonstrated expertise in health policy issues, preferably those that affect children and children’s hospitals.
  • Candidates should have strong writing skills and be able to write clearly and concisely about complex health policy topics.
  • Candidates should have experience representing organizational priorities and perspectives with external entities in coalitions and other settings.
  • Federal or state government and/or legislative experience desired.
  • Master’s degree in health policy, public policy, or health care administration preferred.

This position is based in our Washington, DC office. We leverage a hybrid working model with three days per week in the office.
