About the Department
The primary function of the College of Veterinary Medicine is to train and support veterinary professionals, and perform research to improve animal and human health and well-being, and contribute to the economy of North Carolina, and beyond, through education, research, service, extension and engagement. These goals are pursued through teaching, research, and continuing education and public service.
At the CVM, the administration of research and sponsored activity finances is partially centralized under the Associate Dean for Research. The purpose of the Research Office is to provide comprehensive assistance to the faculty and staff of the College, and to other colleges and University offices as needed, with regard to all Research Administration, for both proposal and award management. Excellence in Research Administration and Customer Service is the key focus of our office.

Essential Job Duties
The Training Program Specialist will work independently to manage several training programs that involve undergraduate, veterinary and medical students. This position will play a significant role in the development of the vision and direction of the program. This position will plan, analyze and organize daily activities, data management and presentation, student placement and support, and assist faculty leads including:
1.Recruiting, screening, placing and supporting undergraduate students into and in research programs.
2. Collecting data on student entry level, student success and faculty satisfaction with programs.
3. Collating and presenting data for federal training grants and progress reports.
4. Entering data into federal training grant data bases for tracking.
5. Recruiting, screening, placing and supporting veterinary and medical students into research programs.
6. Recruiting, screening, placing and supporting veterinary students into Global Health programs.
7. Collecting, collating and presenting outcome data on the programs listed above.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Highly motivated Strong organizational skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong experience with databases like Excel and Google Drive;
- Requires the ability to work effectively independently;
- Requires the ability to interpret guidelines, rules, and regulations, the ability to explain and apply these practices;
- Requires ability to assist and serve program participants.
Experience working with undergraduate, veterinary or graduate students.
