Summary of Position

For the Enterprise Resource Planning program (ERP) of University System of New Hampshire, we are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager who will be leading the ERP Human Capital Management project. Applying best practices in planning and project management, team-building, and analytical thinking skills to address any challenge in a timely manner and ensure successful project completion.

Other minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; minimum 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of work experience and knowledge about information technology projects.
  • A minimum 5-7 years of managing information technology projects involving cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using a structured project management methodology and aptitude to tailor the methodology and process to meet the needs of the project and stakeholders.
  • A broad background in business management concepts with proven leadership and business management skills.
  • Experience with standard computer productivity and project management tools.
  • Proven record of establishing credibility rapidly to enable your effectiveness establishing critical relationships with stakeholders, directors, managers, and project team members from various parts and levels of the organization.
  • Excellent leadership, relational, written, and oral communication skills including facilitation, conflict management, change management, negotiation, and teambuilding.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on timely and effective problem resolution
  • Be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Be a thoughtful leader, influencing through example, including making timely and informed decisions, demonstrating integrity and honesty, and openness to new ideas and ongoing learning.
  • Ability to build effective work teams and lead by example practicing fundamentals of teamwork.
  • Be a strong communicator, able to convey technical information related to the project with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with large scale and complex ERP implementations.
  • Excellent estimating, planning and budgeting skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in technology either as a programmer, analyst, or project manager in software development or system implementation projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, coursework and familiarity with the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Experience utilizing a structured software system lifecycle implementation methodology is preferred.
  • Experience implementing complex projects in higher education and knowledge of technologies used in higher education strongly preferred.

Duty/Responsibility

Manages University System IT-wide projects. Applies best practices in project management, such as those in the PMBOK Guide, to assure outcomes that fulfill project goals within scope, schedule, cost and quality parameters. Perform portfolio planning for IT related projects across the University System. Partners with project sponsor to define projects objectives, scope, schedule and budget. Also partners with various internal and external departments to ensure effective teamwork in the planning, development, operation and support of assigned projects. Establishes project charter and plan, including success criteria. Establishes and coordinates project team. Leads project meetings and manages team members to ensure objectives are achieved within prescribed timeframe and budget. Working with resource managers and project team estimate resource requirements, develop project plans and scheduling for projects. Assesses project risks and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client-satisfaction levels. Tracks and reports project progress with respect to baselined time, budget and target vs. actual business results. Communicates and provides project progress reports for executive project sponsors. Manages appropriate change control procedures and processes. Maintains technical/functional documentation for accuracy and clarity. Implements effective communication strategies to meet the needs of project stakeholders. Manages vendor relations and assures contractual fulfillment as required.
