Job Summary

This position ends December 16, 2022.

The Student Service Analyst coordinates, administers, and implements Early College Programming at GCC by providing operations planning, program management and evaluation, direct student service delivery, as well as problem resolution, and technical assistance. The Student Service Analyst supports the college's strategic enrollment initiatives by serving as an Early College Programs community liaison providing outreach services to high schools, community agencies, and organizations to promote the enrollment/retention of students enrolled in Early College opportunities including ACE (Achieving a College Education) and Hoop of Learning (HOL) programs at GCC. As a representative of the institution, the Student Service Analyst works closely with internal and external constituents and utilizes a broad base of knowledge of student service functions to support a diverse population of students (traditional, non-traditional, underrepresented groups, etc.) in understanding and navigating the admissions and enrollment processes at GCC.

Essential Functions

40% - Coordinates programs within the Early College Programs Department, Achieving a College Education (ACE) and Hoop of Learning (HOL), at GCC by providing student support, monitoring progress, academic planning/advising and orientation to enhance student success; assists prospective, new and continuing students in all aspects of student services including recruitment, placement testing, academic planning, registration, financial aid, orientation programming and retention activities; advises students regarding degree options, transfer options, academic success and financial planning; meets and corresponds with students and high school administrators to build and maintain the college's strategic partnerships; tracks student progress through completion and designs appropriate interventions

20% - Coordinates, implements, and evaluates processes and procedures; implements program outreach as well as recruitment and retention activities; designs, develops, maintains and delivers program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional materials; collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to Early College Programs and students to inform the implementation of policies and procedures and/or to prepare a variety of reports; reviews program requirement criteria to evaluate and determine eligibility

20% - Serves as program and community liaison providing program and policy advisement and related information; monitors and coordinates the provision of information and technical assistance to students, staff and external partners regarding Early College guidelines and applicable laws, policies, rules, and regulations

10% - Develops, analyzes, coordinates, and implements program functions and activities; facilitates and manages student grant/scholarship funds within Early College Programs, which includes the evaluation of grant qualifications in accordance with MCCCD policies, regulations, and state and federal laws; evaluates policy to determine and ensure program compliance

10% - Assists in the execution of other outreach and recruitment programs and performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.


An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience in coordinating cohort-based programs that provide support to high-need, underrepresented students
  2. Experience and knowledge working with diverse student populations as it relates to non-traditional learners, first-generation, low-income, underrepresented, and under-prepared students in higher education
  3. Experience in outreach and recruitment functions within higher education
  4. Experience using technology to support academic advising, student success, student learning, and/or career advising, including demonstrated experience with data entry, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, databases, and/or student information systems
  5. Experience preparing analytical reports using data collection and analysis to inform progress on programmatic outcomes

Special Working Conditions

  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
