Summary of Position

Produce, analyze and maintain the electronic floor plans and associated data for over 6 million square feet of building space. Working with units across the institution, coordinate the collection/maintenance of space data for the university’s integrated workplace management system (IWMS) database, and provide reports and trends for those units using that data. Develop and document the necessary processes to accomplish this, including exports of BIM/CAD files to the IWMS database for mission-critical facilities functions. Review and update, as needed, the campus space standards. Oversee and modify room numbering and provide room signage schedules for construction projects. Assist in the review, monitoring, indexing, and recording of all drawings and manuals submitted from project management, consultants, and sub-contractors. Ensure quality control of all electronic BIM and CAD deliverables for adherence to the University Planning, Design, and Construction Guidelines. Maintain all real estate records for University owned/leased properties including deeds, drawings and maps, and leases. Provide support for assessing property and space needs, utilizations, acquisitions, and dispositions.

Other minimum qualifications

1) Associates Degree in Architectural/Building Trades/BIM/CAD or a closely related field
2) 5 years of experience in space management, architectural building modeling/computer drafting
3) Computer skills including the ability to perform computer-assisted drafting/ building modeling involving a high degree of technical skill in the preparation of floor plan drawings/building models and database, word processing, and/or spreadsheet applications as determined by the department.
4) Familiarity with building floor plan conventions and standards
5) Highly developed organizational skills.
6) Ability to deal with wide range of complex professional, technical, and project-related tasks where frequent independent interpretation and decision making is required.
7) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, design consultants, builders, vendors, and colleagues.
8) Effective oral and written communication skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

1) Bachelor’s degree in related field such as environmental design, architecture, interior design
2) Experience with asset management software (AssetWorks/Aim CAD, FAMIS/FAMIS CAD, Archibus, etc.).
3) Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or 3D modeling software other than the Autodesk Suite, such as SketchUp.
4) Experience in a college/university setting.
5) Experience in space planning.

Duty/Responsibility

Use the IWMS database and CAD software output to provide analysis and graphic presentation of current space utilization conditions and trends. Work closely with the Registrar’s Office, Dean’s, Provost, Facilities, and Auxiliary units to annually update space assignments and space types. Maintain the quality of the space data and related attributes on an ongoing basis. Prepare reports/studies for deans and senior administrators regarding space utilization and availability.

Duty/Responsibility

Develop and maintain over 1700 CAD master base floor plans and evacuation diagrams using CAD/BIM software. Provide export of floor plan information to the Facilities IWMS database using AimCAD. Create automated procedures or scripts for drawing clean up, standardization and updating. Create and maintain all support files for campus drawings such as lisp routines, title blocks, symbol blocks, etc. Provide drawing files for use by Facilities design consultants and builders to be used as a basis for their work.
