Summary

Health Information Technology and Services (HITS) is seeking a Business Analyst Intermediate to work on the Clinical Documentation Team. You will work closely with the Clinical Documentation/Stork/ASAP teams to maintain and improve our version of Epics EHR, MiChart. You will report directly to CJ Valerio Manager of ClinDoc/Stork/ASAP.

About Us 

HITS plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, researchers, students, and staff with exceptional IT products, services, and support. The Clinical Documentation team maintains specific aspects of the MiChart application for the Inpatient Workflows and Obstetric Workflows to support the mission of Michigan Medicine.  

Responsibilities*

The MiChart (Epic) Clinical Documentation support team at Michigan Medicine seeks a Business Analyst Senior to develop, support and maintain Epic Clinical Documentation functionality and workflows. 

Business Analyst Senior responsibilities and behaviors include:

  • Under minimum supervision, lead the planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical system(s) to support patient care delivery. 
  • Performs analysis of department and end user business needs, documentation of requirements, and translation of requirements into proper system specifications. Analyze business workflow and system needs for new features and enhancements. Document current workflow processes and collaborate with users in identifying, defining, and documenting process improvement options and alternatives. 
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other clinician users to ensure enterprise, organization and project goals are met. Participate in software upgrade projects of varying complexity. Including review of release documentation, analysis of new functionality to determine how it is used.
  • Analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action. 
  • This position has the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities.
  • Present concepts in a concise and focused manner, including narrative or process diagrams to facilitate understanding. 
  • Understanding of data warehousing and data management in a healthcare environment 
  • Work with internal (MiChart/HITS) and external teams (Epic, Other Vendors) on integrated issues and configuration/
  • Coordinate the life cycle of a change (design, build, test, educate, communicate) and maintain complete documentation within ServiceNow 
  • Assist other ACs with functionality in which you are the knowledge owner 
  • Share 24/7 call with other team members

Required Qualifications*

Requirements for Senior Level:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience 
  • 5+ years' experience with building on the Epic platform

Requirements for Intermediate Level:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years relevant experience 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Epic Clinical Documentation Certification or Proficiency preferred
  • Epic Certification or Proficiency in Clinical Documentation
  • Experience implementing Epic functionality

This position is being made available with the ability to work remote/on-site options to suit your work-life balance. Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
