Summary This technology support position exists within the Department of Information Technology Services and reports to the ITS Business Support Manager, but also answers to HD full time staff. Work schedule will be variable and may currently begin as early as 7:30 AM or as late as 6:30 PM. Individual work schedules will be negotiated at the beginning of each semester and will remain static for the duration of the semester. Work continues between semesters. Occasional work outside these hours, or on weekends, may be required. This position is renewable each semester. Employees in this position will be evaluated at the end of each semester, and continued employment will be based upon acceptable job performance as well as growth of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Required Qualifications: - Must be a current University of Michigan student to be considered for this position.

Desired Qualifications: - Have entry-level knowledge of PC Hardware & Software
- Have general knowledge of mobile devices, gaming systems, or other types of personal electronic devices.
- Entry-level certifications such as A+, Network+, or similar are a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
What You'll Do ITS Team Support: Provide support as needed for ITS teams including Desktop Support, Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Software Development. Customer Support: Interact with customers to provide general troubleshooting of supported hardware and software, as well as provide support and maintenance of ITS computer labs. You will also provide Classroom Services support of classroom AV equipment, user training, equipment delivery, and inventory management. - Provide technical support to users of PCs, Macs, and mobile devices, in response to specific requests and assignments.
- Utilize technical administration privileges to support identity and access management functions such as two-factor authentication and password management.
- Provide support to onsite and remote users.
- Prepare written instructions to assist users and to document procedures.
- Ensure compliance with University software installation and licensing policies.
- Other duties, reporting, special assignments or projects as needed and assigned.

How You'll Grow The ITS Student Technician position will work on a wide range of tasks which will provide valuable knowledge, and will give you the ability to obtain valuable and transferable skills in many different IT fields. This position will function primarily from the ITS Helpdesk and may also provide assistance as needed to the other ITS groups. Your work at the ITS helpdesk will support campus technology users, and will also support all ITS teams through gathering necessary information, performing troubleshooting, and resolving issues or escalating issues as needed.
