Position Summary: The overall purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight to the Office of Accounting, Office of Student Accounts, Office of Purchasing and Contracts, centralized payroll processing, and auxiliary operations; to provide external financial reporting for the college. To develop the college operating budgets and state appropriation requests. To coordinate biennial audit process. To manage cash and investments. To assist the Vice President for Business and Finance as needed on various special projects and policy development.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide prudent management of fiscal and physical resources and adhere to all federal and state rules and regulations. Responsible for operating budget preparation and compliance with appropriate guidelines. Supervise department heads and evaluate the operations of Accounting, Student Accounts, Payroll Services, Purchasing and Contracts, and auxiliary operations. Assist the Vice President of Business and Finance on special projects as appropriate. Coordinate and prepare all necessary documents for biennial audit. Coordinate cash and investment management with the Vice President for Business and Finance. Coordinate and prepare all necessary documents for external financial reporting. Reviews departmental internal procedures for compliance with prescribed policy and guidelines issued by the Tennessee Board of Regents and requirements of third parties. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Accounting or related field. Achieved certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Experience at an administrative level in an educational institution. Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) expertise. Banner or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college. Must have strong leadership, human relations, and communications skills. Knowledge of ERP systems. Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ERP solutions. Strong analytical abilities. Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary.
Pay Rate: 76,790.00 - 115,170.00 annual salary depending on experience
