The Division of Hematology, Blood Cancer, and BMT Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor – Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Psychologist.

Position Description:
This psychologist (Ph.D. or PsyD) will be faculty in the Division of Hematology. They will serve the Blood Disorders and Cellular Therapies Center's clinical needs on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This population includes those with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma and those undergoing bone marrow transplant or treatment with immune effector therapy such as those using Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) to treat cancer.

This is a clinical position and is highly integrated with the medical team. The psychologist will provide assessment including pre-transplant evaluation, health and behavior interventions, and psychotherapy to individuals and families across both the inpatient and outpatient environment. This psychologist will join a dedicated psychosocial team comprised of psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and spiritual care providers and will spend a portion of their time coordinating with the medical and psychosocial teams to assure the needs of patients and families are met. The expectation is that this is a predominately clinical position. There will be opportunities for teaching, scholarship, and research as part of the assistant professor role; however, this position includes no protected time for non-clinical activities.

Examples of Work Performed:
• Provide Behavioral Health Services for inpatients at University of Colorado Hospital, outpatients in the Blood Disorders and Cellular Therapy Center, and patients off site though virtual visits, including but not limited to brief psychotherapy for concerns such as adjustment to illness, existential/end-of-life issues, and management of psychiatric illness, in addition to providing trauma-informed approaches, safety evaluations, pre-procedure evaluations and capacity evaluations for medical decision making
• Assist with unit/patient/staff relational dynamics and provide recommendations to help in cases involving complex patient interactions
• Develop educational programming and present at Division of Hematology Grand Rounds
• Participate in quality review activities and process improvement
• Contribute to the academic advancement of the discipline
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field, both academically and through applied skills
• Maintain collaborative engagement with the medical and psychosocial teams
• Maintain eligibility for SOM faculty appointment
• Occasional crisis intervention for difficult/challenging patient situations

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $105,000 to $122,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited university with an APA-accredited clinical psychology training program.
• Completion of an APA-accredited psychology internship training program
• Postdoctoral fellowship or postdoctoral training in clinical health psychology OR equivalent work experience in a related specialty
• Experience on an integrated medical team
• Full, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the State of Colorado or currently license eligible in the State of Colorado
• Eligibility for credentialing at UCHealth

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral training as a clinical health psychologist or with a focus on health psychology
• A postdoctoral fellowship as a clinical practitioner in an integrated behavioral health position
• At least two (2) years of clinical experience as a licensed psychologist in an integrated medical setting
• Prior psycho-oncology and/or bone marrow transplant experience

• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
