FAQ Job Title Associate Director of Safety, Enterprises and OperationsJob Description The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of Associate Director of Safety, within the Enterprises & Operations department. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives. As part of the event management role, the division is responsible for the planning and execution of a wide range of University events from Commencement to concerts and special events on football game weekends. The division is a major contributor of revenue to the University’s mission and employs the largest number of staff on campus with over 1,200 full-time, part-time, temporary, and on-call staff.

Why this position? The Associate Director of Safety will promote safe work environments and advocate for a culture of safety within the University Enterprises & Events division. This position is responsible for the oversight of occupational and environmental health and safety management systems, in partnership with Risk Management & Safety (RMS), while receiving supplemental direction from the Senior Director on program implementation. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with University programs, as well as local, state, and federal statutes and regulations. The Associate Director will conduct risk assessments and audits of all units by utilizing established RMS processes, identifying hazards and control methods to reduce risk, participate in incident investigations, track action items from audits, conduct inspections and incident investigations to closure, and ensure all required safety training is completed. In this role, the Associate Director will collaborate with Campus Dining’s Food Safety Specialist, champion the effort to become VPP Star certified under the leadership of RMS, conduct routine safety walk-throughs, craft and publish communications about safety, serve as Chair for the UEE safety committee and participate in University-wide safety meetings.
