Job TitleRegistered Nurse - (On-Call/Temporary)
As an On-Call Registered Nurse for the University of Notre Dame’s Medical Outreach team within Notre Dame Fire Department, this position staffs a variety of campus events including, but not limited to, all home Fighting Irish Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Hockey games, and various other Olympic Athletic events, as well as specialty events including Junior Parents Weekend, the Holy Half Marathon, Logan Run, local high school and college graduation ceremonies, and Notre Dame’s Commencement Mass and Commencement.
This position requires a current Indiana Registered Nurse license, AHA BLS certification, and completion of pre-employment verification.
The On-Call RN must have relevant clinical experience, including IV skills, demonstrate skills necessary to respond to sudden illness or injury, and have the ability to assess and make appropriate decisions regarding medical care. Essential duties include examining, assessing, and treating injured or ill patients under the practice scope of Basic First Aid with medical directives provided by the Medical Outreach Medical Director.
Additionally, duties include coordination of appropriate referrals to a higher level of care, as indicated, including local emergency departments, urgent care centers, and/or on-campus medical facilities, when indicated. This position collaborates closely with event staff and must communicate effectively with all partners including, but not limited to, Notre Dame Fire Department, Security Police, Game Management, Crowd Control, Facilities, etc. and other local emergency medical partners.
-Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
-Current Indiana Registered Nurse license.
-AHA BLS certification or equivalent.
Must be skilled in nursing assessment, critical thinking, and communication, with the ability to initiate and maintain Intravenous (IV) therapy.
Ability to lift, transfer and position patients is required.
Integrity to maintain strict confidentiality is essential.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
Three years related nursing experience.
Basic computer skills; email, Google Docs/Sheets, Facebook, and Microsoft Word.
