Job Summary

The Core Immunology Lab (CIL) is a fee-for-service core facility that supports clinical and translational research. CIL is housed within the UCSF Division of Experimental Medicine (DEM) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General and further supported by the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).

The Core Immunology Laboratory provides specimen processing support for studies of the pathogenesis and treatment of HIV/AIDS and other immune disorders; training and education in flow cytometric and immune-based assays, and development, optimization and standardization of new assays for Clinical Research studies. As part of the UCSF Core Immunology Laboratory at ZSFG, the Staff Research Associate will primarily be performing lymphocyte isolation and cryopreservation from blood and tissue biopsies and basic flow cytometry. As the Staff Research Associate successfully learns specimen processing, she/he may be taught other procedures in the laboratory including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, advanced flow cytometer operation and analysis of flow cytometry data. This position will fulfill the need for additional technical support for on-going and planned studies.  In addition, this position will provide support to industry collaborations.

We’re about creating exceptional experience for our employees. Our goal is to provide opportunities for our diverse employee population to develop and grow careers in a team-oriented environment focused on research.
Every employee, at every level, begins their career at UCSF learning about the history of the organization and its established culture built on trust and integrity. Our employees drive this culture, and we want you to be a part of it.

Department Description

The Division of Experimental Medicine is a translational, wet lab research unit comprised of 8 immunological research groups consisting of 10 faculty members and 65+ staff, trainees, and post-docs. Our labs use cutting edge technologies to answer clinically important questions about host-pathogen interactions across globally devastating infectious diseases, including HIV, Malaria, SARS-CoV-2, and Tuberculosis.
Our division aspires to be an actively anti-racist group. We welcome applicants who will contribute to our institution-wide efforts celebrating our cultural backgrounds and be resolute in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism activities.
