Responsibilities* The Pediatric Specialties Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) is the clinical home for children and families seeking care across multiple pediatric subspecialties at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The primary mission of the ACU is to partner with our doctors, nurses and other providers to deliver excellent care and customer service. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and self-driven Patient Services Intermediate to support the Pediatric Pulmonary Lab. This individual will share our priorities which include: high quality medical care, excellent customer service, safety of staff and patients, efficiency, employee satisfaction, stewardship of resources and the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees. Coordinates and provides clerical support in the Pediatric Pulmonary lab/clinic. Coordinates and facilitates communication between physicians, clinic personnel and patients regarding authorization for service and other inquiries. Assists in identifying and resolving operational problems. Provides customer service to patients by facilitating business processes including scheduling numerous patient procedures in multiple pulmonary clinics and the pulmonary lab. Coordinating complex schedules between multiple services including operating room, radiology, providers, outside vendors, State of Michigan Newborn Screen program, while supporting patient and families. Responsible for maintaining clinical testing documentation. Individual must maintain an excellent rapport in person and via telephone with patients, families, faculty, and staff within a team setting. Participate fully in the Lean in Daily Work (LIDW) model of continuous quality improvement. Supervision Received Supervision is received from the Pulmonary Lab Allied Health Supervisor. Supervision Exercised None. Required Qualifications* - High School Diploma.
- 3-4 years of experience.
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality is a must.
- Must possess excellent telephone and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Organize and shows the ability to multi-task in a fast paced clinical environment.
- Basic computer literacy with typing accuracy and speed.
- Adhere to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, and consistently sharing information and resources with others.
Desired Qualifications* - Previous experience in a clinical care setting.
- Previous experience with scheduling surgical cases.
- Knowledge of Epic Care Electronic Medical Record.
- Experience with Epic OpTime.
- Experience in obtaining authorizations for procedures is desirable.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
