Position Summary/Purpose of Position: The full-time (9-month) professional track faculty position (rank open to Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will both teach and develop instructional material for data science in the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester (fall and spring) while working on development of pedagogical tools such as coding tutorials or cloud-based programming environments for students. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level, engage in service to the profession and shared governance within the university, and participate actively in the life of the college.
Minimum Qualifications: - Graduate degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, information science, information studies, social science or a related area
- Teaching, training, and/or mentoring experience related to data analytics
- Strong programming skills (preferably Python)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferences: - PhD in the areas described above
- Experience teaching Python at the university level
- Experience developing courses and curricula at the university level
- Experience with cloud computing services
- Interest and experience in teaching topical areas within data science/analytics that support data-driven racial, gender, social, and economic equity, justice, and inclusion
- Research or professional experience related to the college’s academic program
