Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
University Honors will hire (2) Graduate Assistant for 9.5-month, 10-hour per week appointments supporting the Senior Program Manager. Primary areas of focus include facilities management, operations, and event support.
The starting Step I salary for this Graduate Assistantship is $12,237 and carries partial tuition remission. The contract dates are August 17, 2022 to May 31, 2022, with the potential for additional hours paid for work prior to the start of the contract.
A central responsibility for this role is supervising the UH Commons space in Yahentamitsi Dining Hall during evening hours. The space, which includes a lounge area, two huddle rooms, two classrooms, and three restrooms, is accessible to University Honors students until 9 p.m. The Graduate Assistant must work 2 shifts a week from 4-9 p.m. to total their 10-hour commitment. It is expected that, while overseeing the space, the GAs are also completing other tasks as described below.
- Overseeing student activity in the UH Commons (e.g., answering questions, coordinating huddle room use, and monitoring behavior)
- Assisting with evening events in UH Commons (e.g., preparing materials, moving furniture, and tracking attendance)
- Maintaining inventory of copy, instructional, and kitchen supplies; ordering supplies as needed
- Conducting and interpreting copier usage reports
- Potential opportunity to support communications efforts (e.g., take photos and video, gather source material, and/or draft stories) and/or light financial processing, depending on interest and skills
- Other projects as needed
Please note that this job requires a firm schedule with the primary responsibility being a physical presence in the UH Commons. The GA may need to lift boxes, move furniture, and conduct other light physical activity.
