| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III in Cancer Pharmacology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Research Teaching Specialist III position, under direction of the Principal Investigator, is to assist with the organization, daily operation, research, and administrative duties in the laboratory. This includes designing and executing cutting edge experiments in understanding cell signaling in cancer biology and therapies as directed by the Principal Investigator. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- As assigned, carries out various technical and research operations in the areas of molecular and cell biology, and cancer pharmacology. Demonstrates hands-on knowledge and experience of hydrodynamic mouse liver tumor models, cell culture, molecular cloning, protein expression, kinase assays, drug response assays, and immunological techniques (immunoprecipitation, immunoblot, immunofluorescence, proximity ligation assay).
- Assists with routine research laboratory projects as directed by the Principal Investigator.
- Assists with the training and mentoring of all new personnel in the lab (students, postdocs, technicians, etc).
- Develops and implements new lab protocols.
- Troubleshoots technical protocols.
- Demonstrates experience in the preparation of grant applications for the funding of research activities.
- Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
- Assists Principal Investigator in routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as directed.
- Assists in shipping and receiving research specimens.
- Helps to oversee laboratory space and assists with future equipment and space planning needs.

Minimum Education and Experience | - Master’s Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of research experience in regulation of chromatin remodeling in liver tumorigenesis and anticancer drug therapy, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
