Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Training Coordinator for the University Controller’s Office. This position reports to the Training and Communications Manager and aids in the development and execution of training programs and communication materials for the University’s financial systems and initiatives. The Training Coordinator is responsible to ensure that the entire university community is informed and effectively prepared to follow accounting policies and procedures and use all financial systems supported by the Controller’s Office.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Prepares all types of project communications to the University community on financial applications and new accounting policies and procedures. Communications include but are not limited to multi-media presentations, emails, newsletters, and FAQs.
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring the mandatory financial systems training program. Develops monthly training schedule for university personnel. Coordinates the offering of training courses and demonstrations for new system releases to achieve maximum awareness and a smooth transition at the University.
  • Creates, develops and updates all training material including online tutorials, course materials, user guides and instructional job aids according to university style guide, and is responsible for ensuring the campus community is prepared to effectively utilize the various University financial systems for which the Controller’s Office is responsible.
  • Executes training, currently virtual, consistent with an understanding of accounting generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable regulations and university policies and procedures. Presents training materials to a diverse University population using various training techniques.
  • Plans the implementation of strategic training programs and other financial tools to deliver training in support of University-wide business processes and financial systems. This position has a good understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology and applied bases of accounting.
  • Provides professional, prompt and courteous service to university personnel by resolving or directing employees to resolve financial issues or system errors. Answers help desk inquiries as needed.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years professional experience, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity and understanding with U.S generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to translate financial principles into training design documents and courses.
  • Knowledge of training software such as but not limited to Canvas, Captivate, Vision, Microsoft Office and use of A/V equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated training experience; strong customer service with an emphasis on outreach to the campus community.
  • Familiarity with public communications, training program development and project management.
  • Strong technical skills coupled with business intelligence; and the ability to work with financial and technology subject matter experts to quickly grasp pertinent information and translate it into training design documents and courses.
  • Experience with various information systems, including Oracle Financials functionality.
  • Previous experience working in higher education and an understanding of the University’s administrative and financial operations and requirements.
