| Posting Summary | Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a EDIT/MEDIA SPEC | WEB. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Media Relations, the position is responsible for the production of native and paid digital marketing initiatives (web and social) for Rutgers-Newark. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Supervises social media and web support student workers, providing expertise and guidance on how to grow and engage our various audiences through analysis of KPIs; • Utilizes business, problem-solving, and data mining skills to develop a key strategic quantitative analysis for our team; • Writes and edits web and social media content; • Works closely with the Assistant Director to build immersive digital experiences on desktop, mobile and social media platforms; • Works closely with the Assistant Director on the website redesign project, serving as backup project manager when needed; • Carries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work by supervisor; • Services the Rutgers University – Newark community.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience | - A bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in communication, marketing, and design environment.
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in an editorial or marketing function.
| Certifications/Licenses | | Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | - Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of website management and publishing, social media management for a higher education institution or equivalent brand, and digital marketing reporting.
- A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a content creation/management role.
- Must have professional writing experience, familiarity with audio/video production, a solid knowledge of the current media/social media landscape, and Drupal CMS training.
- Experience using the Adobe Suite, analytics programs (Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Adobe Analytics, etc.), and social media publishing and listening platforms (Sprout Social, Hootsuite, CrowdTangle, etc.).
- Must be organized and detailed oriented with strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.
