| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Dean for Program Development for the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions within the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) on the Newark Health Science campus. Under direction of the Senior Associate Dean, the Assistant Dean for Program Development serves as Academic Advisor and Director of remote learning for Medical and Dental Scholars master’s program. The incumbent is responsible for the leadership, admissions, administration, supervision, and evaluation of students in the planned masters’ programs, and oversees all activities related to students’ career development, training and education, with respect to career readiness. The Assistant Dean is also responsible for collecting, analyzing and presenting academic data, training grant preparation, and development of future graduate programs in the health sciences. The Assistant Dean will represent the Newark Health Science Campus of School of Graduate Studies on a variety of committees and workgroups within Rutgers. as well as. outside Rutgers University. This will be achieved through the following duties and other activities as assigned by the Senior Associate Dean for SGS-Newark. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Development of master’s programs to leverage existing courses and other academic activities with a view to establishing and maintaining robust remote learning opportunities for current master’s students, and to sustain and enhance enrollment of new students into these programs.
- Development of a new program that emphasizes remote learning opportunities, while upholding the academic rigor and in-person activities that are intrinsic to the existing programs.
- Provide leadership and advising for students enrolled in these masters’ programs, including recruitment, admissions, course selection and planning, working with faculty to develop courses and workshops that underpin these programs.
- Collect and analyze academic achievement and outcomes data, and use to establish data driven strategic planning for program offerings and recruitment.
- Participate in the development and submission of grant proposals for funds from private foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Envision and develop innovative new master’s and related graduate programs that meet the criteria for implementation as fully distance learning programs.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience | - Requires a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the biomedical sciences.
- Must have at least 7 years of progressive experience in biomedical sciences higher education and administration with demonstrated leadership and proven skills as a strategic thinker with the ability to build teams/relationships and interact effectively with all levels of staff in a highly collaborative environment.
