Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator in Behavioral Sciences at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Program Coordinator plans and coordinates the conduct of highly specialized and technical research for the behavioral sciences research group.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Participates in all aspects of research and ensures compliance with study protocols. Monitors progress of projects. Reports to the Principal Investigator on project progress, problems, and the need for adjustments.
  • Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary study team. Develops work plans, coordinates activities, and communicates to members of the study team regarding study activities. Serves as liaison to other departments, facilities, organizations, and companies. Schedules, attends and leads (as assigned) and takes minutes from meetings.
  • Under supervision of the principal investigator, assists in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revision where necessary and proposing new procedures where required. As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
  • Conducts focus groups and interviews as needed. Conducts acceptability and usability testing of measures and interventions.
  • Assists with development and administration of assessments. Assists with designing, developing, disseminating, and implementing behavioral interventions.
  • Recruits, screens, consents and enrolls participants for studies as per project timelines. Ensures participant completion of study activities per protocol. Maintains study recruitment, accrual, and participation documents.
  • Responsible for study data management, preliminary data screening, and data cleaning throughout the project. As directed, provides support in other data processing and analysis. Prepares reports containing findings, analysis, conclusion and recommendations (i.e., grants, narratives, position papers, etc.), as requested.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.  Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility .  Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine .  Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science or related field (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Health Education, or Nursing) with three (3) years of in administrative, research or related health industry experience.
  • Prior research experience necessary.
  • Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated detail orientation and flexibility; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold self-accountable to high standards of professional excellence, demonstrated to be resourceful, seeks and accepts personal and professional responsibility on a continual basis.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in related research, public health and/or counseling experience.
  • Strong interest in cancer prevention, behavioral health, public health policy, e/mHealth and social media.
  • Skills with SPSS programming, Endnote, and survey building software such as REDCap and Qualtrics.
  • Prior experience working in a grant-funded, academic or medical setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
