Required Education
All applicants must hold a minimum of a doctoral degree with research experience in one of the following areas: food demand systems, consumer behavior, economics of health and nutrition, food supply chain, food retailing, or related fields.
Required Related Experience
Candidate must have 1) strong written and verbal communication skills; 2) knowledge of consumer demand and food marketing; 3) expertise in working with large data and econometric modeling using data analysis software (e.g., STATA, SAS, R), and 4) ability to produce quality research manuscripts.
Desirable qualifications are: experience with the scanner data, training in industrial organizations, familiarity with primary data collection and analysis, demonstrated skills in implementing research, econometric analyses, and the ability to produce verbal and written communication appropriate for the range of audiences, including scholarly reports and publications.
Candidates should have demonstrated interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and collaboration, the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a large interdisciplinary team, and the ability to coordinate multiple academic projects.
Required License/Registration/Certification
PhD in research experience in one of the following areas: food demand systems, consumer behavior, economics of health and nutrition, food supply chain, food retailing, or related fields.

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours/week)
Job Summary
The Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Kentucky is seeking applications from those interested in a Post Doctoral Scholar position. This USDA grant-funded position is available under the supervision of Drs. Shuoli Zhao, Yuqing Zheng, Nick Pates, Tim Woods, and Tyler Mark. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research in the area of consumer behavior and food marketing with an emphasis on the economics of plant-based meat alternatives (PBMAs).
The postdoctoral scholar will be working with a diverse team consisting of consumer, production, and extension economists to assess the opportunities and challenges of PBMAs. Main responsibilities include designing, implementing, and publishing research related to consumer preferences, market analysis, and policy evaluation in the meat and plant-based alternative industries.

Anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2022. Applicant must have the degree conferred before the start date.
