The Department has three main research focus areas in electrical systems, biomedical systems, and Intelligent Information Systems. Specific research areas include, Electric vehicle charging; Cybersecurity in modern power grids; Control systems; Distributed and safe control; Complex networks; Robotics; Deep learning for computer vision and imaging; Ocular organ culture and biophysical modeling, to name a few. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work in one of the faculty-led research laboratories in the department and receive training as needed. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to oversee graduate students and projects in the faculty member’s lab, prepare data and write reports/articles for technical publications as well as, participate in future grant proposal development as part of the post doc mentoring plan.
| Minimum Position Qualifications | The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English are also required. Experience in mathematical modeling, and strong computer programming skills in MATLAB, and/or other language are also required.
| Special Conditions | Preferred Qualifications: Good experience and background knowledge in one of the research focus areas. Ability to work independently and in a team. Capability to design and perform experimental plans, strong interest to learn, understanding of statistical analysis procedures and interpreting data. Sufficient interpersonal skills in dealing with students (graduate and undergraduate), university personnel and other related groups. Self-motivation and creativity are highly desirable. Initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for an additional year, based on performance and availability of funding. Performance is evaluated mainly by publications. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
