Position Summary
The University of Memphis has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in crop modeling with focus on physiology and water management. The main goal of this position is to understand the impact of abiotic stresses including water deficit, drought, heat, and high temperature on row crop production and dissemination of this information to clients through technical/non-technical publications and outreach. The selected candidate is also expected to manage lab, greenhouse, and field experiments in collaboration with the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Tennessee in Jackson
Minimum Position Qualifications
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant science, Plant physiology, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates who are currently obtaining a Ph.D. will also be considered, but the degree must be conferred by the time of hiring. Applicants should possess excellent academic and research performance records and strong oral and written communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong record of publications and grantsmanship for selection.
Special Conditions
This is a 12-month appointment with the potential of extension contingent upon the continued funding of the grant and satisfactory performance.
The position is located within the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, but a portion of the work is in direct cooperation with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture at the West Tennessee Research and Education Center in Jackson, TN and the candidate is expected to work within both locations.
