The Davidson Lab is searching for postdoctoral or more senior research candidates interested in studying the interactions between hydrogels, cement, and multiscale pore structure for water uptake and retention in materials for urban infrastructure. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Moini and Datta labs at Princeton. We seek candidates with expertise in some of the following: polymer and hydrogel synthesis (including molecular analysis tools such as NMR and GPC), imaging (techniques of interest include both optical methods and tools such as micro-CT), surface- and bulk- characterization approaches such as contact angle goniometry, scanning- and transmission- electron microscopy, and thermal and mechanical analysis. Prior experience working with cement, and/or prior experience with extrusion-based additive manufacturing (3D printing) tools a plus but not required. Princeton University is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. We actively seek students, faculty, and staff of exceptional ability and promise who share in our commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, and who will bring a diversity of viewpoints and cultures. In doing so, we encourage applications from individuals whose personal identities, backgrounds and/or interests (as demonstrated by their research, teaching, service, mentoring and/or advising) align with our commitments and will contribute to the excellence and diversity, in its broadest terms, of our department. Applicants should apply at: https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/26041 and include a CV (including a list of publications), research interest statement (a discussion of past research and expertise), and contact information for three references. Appointments are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity/ Affirmative Action Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
