General Description / Primary Purpose
This position will jointly report to the Director of the Northeast Florida Center for STEM Education (NEFSTEM, or the Center) and the Associate Dean Research, Faculty Development, and External Funding of the College of Education and Human Services. The selected candidate for this position will assist the NEFSTEM Director in designing, developing, implementing, and assessing Center-related projects. This position requires a scholar who is: (1) knowledgeable about, and prepared to keep abreast of, the most recent and rapidly changing STEM+C professional learning research, (2) capable of managing teacher professional learning activities as well as creating a research agenda on this work, (3) positioned to collaborate on research efforts to capture what we are collectively learning through this inquiry-driven professional learning. To these ends, we are seeking a postdoctoral scholar, with an innovative disposition, an inquiry and equity stance toward STEM+C instruction, and an entrepreneurial approach to fostering professional development who can support this line of inquiry on STEM+C teacher learning and leadership. This scholar will need to be able to apply gained practical experience in designing, managing, and studying STEM+C professional learning in NEFSTEM activities and programming.

Essential Duties

Job Function
  • Work directly with the NEFSTEM Director to develop proposals and secure funding for STEM+C learning
  • Manage multiple NEFSTEM projects by communicating with key personnel, coordinating resources, and tracking logistical timelines and reporting requirements
  • Enact NEFSTEM leadership vision through practical applications including, but not limited to, pre-collegiate student programming, teacher professional development, and faculty outreach
  • Support program, department, inter-departmental, inter-college, inter-organizational collaboration related to innovation in STEM+C teacher professional development
  • Provide administrative, fiscal, and report writing oversight for STEM+C projects and grants
  • Develop, implement, and sustain job-embedded professional development programs and/or services for educators
  • Establish partnerships between communities, local schools, non-profits and other institutions of higher education to strengthen the STEM+C pipeline by promoting teacher professional development in schools
  • Support the facilitation the transformation of the STEM+C educator workforce and candidate pool to represent the diversity of Florida’s population in consideration of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, language, and gender through equitable teacher professional development
  • Develop, engage, and sustain school-based educators and teacher candidates with STEM practitioner/teacher research activities
  • Collaborate with other campus centers to strengthen STEM+C activities
  • Support faculty research efforts related to STEM+C teacher professional development
  • Supporting work within STEP Lab, which may involve working with young children
  • Other duties as assigned

Faculty Position Required Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in STEM+C education and/or related discipline
  • Three or more years of Pk-12 experience in STEM+C teaching
  • Knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research designs and analyses
Departmental Requirements
Preference will be given to applicants who meet the required qualifications and who also possess the following:
  • Demonstrated experience with a high level of collaboration/communication with school district leadership and other learning organizations, non-profits, and/or governmental agencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of STEM+C education and STEM+C educator development
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and providing budgetary oversight to large scale projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing complex and dynamic situations and identifying effective strategies and/or actions to address identified problems
